A New Chapter for Muskeg Press

July 30, 2021

In 2019, Chris Armstrong, owner of the local publishing house Muskeg Press, came to Community Futures for financing assistance to reprint the outdoor guidebook The Outsiders Guide to Prince Rupert. We helped Chris reignite his business and reprint the guidebook in an updated second edition run. Hear the full story of the work we did with Chris in the above video.

However, the success didn’t stop there for Muskeg Press. Since working with Community Futures, Muskeg Press has also published the novel All Native by Rudy Kelly, and more recently published the anthology Influenced: Stories from the Lockdown. Influenced contains a collection of short stories written by authors worldwide throughout the first COVID-19 lockdown, with the requirement that none of the stories mention the pandemic. These works are available at local bookstores or online at www.muskegpress.com.

Chris cited many benefits to working with Community Futures, including the speed and simplicity of our application process, our downtown location, and the experience of working with local business experts.  Community Futures is proud to support local businesses.
